Firefox 2.0 (with WebSense Bypass Modification)

Here is the page of my personal build Mozilla Firefox 2.0. In this version, it adopts a method to bypass the Websense content filter. Just read the details in the page. We have Windows 32bit version binary and Mac OS X PowerPC G4 (7450) version binary of Firefox.

For somebody will still encounter browsing difficulities behind Websense network, just adjust some perferences in Firefox (about:config).

1. set network.http.keep-alive to false
2. set network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server to 0

iBook with HeatSink

編譯大程式時，都會用到不少的 CPU power，當然溫度自然就會升高。雖然室溫看溫度計只有 24~25 度，但是編譯 Firefox 2.0 時，溫度升到將近 70 度是蠻正常的，然後內建風扇就會啟動。
昨天異想天開，就把 iBook 鍵盤拆開移位，露出裡面的保護鐵片。然後在左邊的位置上擺上在 Yahoo!拍賣 買的幾個小散熱片。剛開始有點用處，因為散熱片是冷的，放上去溫度馬上降個 2-3 度。但是沒多久散熱片也開始燙了，效果也等於沒用。於是想到 PC 有個 8 inch 風扇因為有怪聲被我換掉，就拿來回收使用，把電線裸露出來接上 USB 充電的接頭。12V 的風扇轉速大概是近3000轉，但是接上 5V 的 USB 電源後，大概只有一千多轉，風量也不太大，也沒有太吵。放上散熱片之後，Temperature Monitor 顯示 CPU 溫度只有 56~58 度之間，明顯比將近 70 度的溫度少了很多。
